"Jezer’s Birthday: A Tale Of 3rd Grade Reunion" | Sep 16 07

Today, being the very day in which my brother and I reunite with old friends from elementary school, was fairly epic; almost too epic to portray efficiently in a blog post, but I felt it was needed to mark this moment in time with a blog entry, wouldn’t you say? It surely beats waking up in the afternoon, pouring a bowl of sugarcoated cereal, and watching reruns of Disney Channel. Of which, should not be further elaborated for what’s left of my dignity.

Once Googling the address of our old friends, we hopped in our car and revved the engine with UMPH, in anticipation of arriving and reuniting with old friends. Many swerves through intersections and yelling of street names, we promptly arrived in front of the house we Googled. Billy (my brother) and I were instantly in gawk, once are eyes caught notice of our old friends, who just so happen to be brother and sister. Reminds me of the duo of Bonnie and Clyde and Lilo and Stitch (my overexposure to Disney Channel shows all too well), seeing each other for the first time in the last six years. I couldn’t say it was one of those moments on the beach in which two people run from opposite directions and meet somewhere in the middle of the beach, whilst 80’s music is playing from an anonymous source, but I’d say it was pretty darn close to it. By replacing the 80’s melody by the howling of the wind and the whole beach scene with suburban streets, you’ve got the picture installed in that noggin.

I haven’t seen the duo since my years in Grade 3; 3rd GRADE! That’s a good 6 years ago; a good 2,190 days (oh… mental number crunching hurts)! That’s insane, I tell you! Going that far back into history is an accomplishment, I have to add. After all these years man… I could go on about what a turn of events this moment had come to be, but you know, I’ll keep off the mushy side :) (exaggeration! Gotta love it.)

I entered the living room, accompanied by my brother, to the sight of family member’s eyes burning a hole in presence. It’s astonishing how some stranger staring at you could cause so much uneasiness. But, surely, it faded away once I stuffed myself with cold spaghetti and egg rolls. Nothing could beat the duo. All the while, ANOTHER pal from 3rd grade came over and the whole process of “HOLY SHIT! IS THAT YOU?!” continued.

The rest of the evening went accordingly: get served by my younger brother at pool (billiards, as the actual sport sounds so much more official), get whooped in a street fighting game in the garage, chug soda like there was no end, grasp pet bunnies as if a glass ornament, accidentally topple over a doll house, go at it with a rubber band war, slamming cake into each other’s faces, gurgling water bottles atop heads, and, to top off the evening, throwing rabbit pellet poop at each other.

You know, for the sake of this blog, I kept the crusted frosting on my earlobes to admit that every warrior has battle wounds, whether that be a rubber band war, a cake fight, or the plain ol’ “Head’s UP! RABBIT POOP IN YOUR DIRECTION!” kinda dispute.

Off to wash of my earlobes… :)

P.S. Jaja and Jezer! I want a rematch! You simply cannot quicken a rabbits metabolism to accommodate your ammunition!!

Nice feeling, isn’t it? I remember when I hang out with my childhood friend whom I haven’t seen and been with for many years. XP

Don’t you have pics? They say pictures say a thousand words…! At least you don’t have to write long paragraphs just to vividly describe things. Hehe

I’m desperately lacking a camera, actually xD It’s funny how when you REALLY do need a camera, it seems apparently lacking. A photoblog idea does sound nice though… :)

Reuniting with old friends, huh? Sounds fun. Rubber band fights own… but the rabbit poop dispute…?

Unfortunately, I’ve moved twice and never actually caught up with friends from where I used to live. My first school was when I was young and clueless. I remember it being innocent enough, until we heard on the news there were a couple of bashings, gangups and weed-smokin’ cases down there. Heh.

Plus, my mum would put me through interrogation and the works. You know, “can you trust this address from google?!”.

“My social life is picking up”
It’s not THAT bad is it? o.O

Aww. Yup, a lot has changed especially since you guys haven’t met for years! My friends and I just reunited as well. We watched Rush Hour 3…WHICH IS PHENOMENAL! (sp?) HILARIOUS! Oh oh, street fighting, the video game is the best!

Disney Channel! It’s funny how I still watch it everyday. Especially that Suite Life of Zack and Cody show :D

In elementary school and middle school, most of the kids there were Hispanics and Blacks. There were like 10 Asian kids, including me, in the whole school, and around 4 Caucasians :D SO, I’m really used to being around diverse cultures. Now, it’s like, “WHOA. Freaky.” I just feel very uncomfortable. Right now, I’m slowly adjusting…but I still miss all the hyperness D: I think in my school now, all the Asians form their own group, Caucasians sticks with their color, and Muslims with their own group of people — it’s not much of a “rainbow,” I guess =/

Ahhh the lovely reunions. Hahaha. I love those, because since i changed school recently, and i still go to the station where people from my old school are, i’m flooded with ‘HEY deborah!’ OR ‘what’s UP!!??’ comments. It gives you a sense of popularity (even though that is something i LACK) and its awesome. xD

Ha ha ha ha! If this sort of thing happens to you a lot, then for the love of Jesus, you should definitely start a photoblog. :) I hope you didn’t catch any deadly fungi infections or diseases from whatever rabbit-dropping wounds you received.

Also, about your previous entry, c’est terrible that there is a gap in communication between you and your mom… I’m sending you my best wishes..

Meeting old friends can be fun and on the other hand dissapointing. When you remember all the good times you had and if you now don’t feel connected at all, that can feel like a huge loss. “What once was, is no more”.

Ahh, I guess it would be weird seeing people that you hadn’t seen in such a long time like that - I had a similar experience when I went back to Scotland on holiday and saw everyone again :)
