"A License For A 13 Year Old? It’s Genius." | Aug 13 07
Categorized in Family/Friends, Ramblings.
Passing one’s driving test is almost as if a rite of passage into the world of crazy drivers, mass murdering hitch hikers, and innocent bystanders getting in the way of one’s vehicle as a liability to get sued. Ahhh… the freedom of the open road into view when cruising down the highway. The wind rushing through hair. The music cranked up to a reasonable volume (don’t tell me you haven’t seen those cars blaring their music as if they were alarming the neighbors of a fire with Lil’ John’s verses). The person in the passenger seat enjoying the view and drinking down a Capri Sun.
I’ve never really had a reason (or motive if you will) to hot wire a nice lookin’ Cadillac and go on my way with a stolen car. Neither have I had an urge to get a license. Until I realized how important it was to make deadlines when parental guardian’s busy schedule are too packed to take their children anywhere, even when their child’s future lay within that deadline. How important it is to get a volunteering opportunity downtown. How important it is to have a late night fiesta at Tacobell at 2 AM in the morning.
I want to drive. I want to hang my face out of a window and let my tongue hang out as if I was a domesticated canine. I want to test my mind’s ability to recognize color with the streetlights testing my reaction time when it flashes green. I want to hear that sound of shifting gears and honking from aggravated drivers who find 50 MPH isn’t enough to suit their adrenaline needs. I want to actually be able to make a promise to get to a certain area without having the parental schedules interfering.
Having a 13-year old driving is like asking a beaver to crank up machinery. It shouldn’t be done, yet, if it were to be, it’d be quite miraculous for that one poor kid who can’t drive and relying on parents for driving is almost saying,”I’m not going anywhere.” I mean, really, who wouldn’t want a late night fiesta?
I hear meteor showers are well on their way in the midst of August?

I don’t understand, you see: You post two damn blogs in the same day! WHICH ONE AM I SUPPOSED TO COMMENT?! You’re going to be the death of me :nope: . I’m a very organized person and you’re messing with the ‘ways of blogging.’ :frustrated: I supposed I have to let it slide this time, since its already happened. But if you happen to be making another blog as I type you’re totally dead. x__x
Haha, what a poetic intro. And the addition of the ‘Capri Sun’ really makes the image come to life. And… er… you’d like to look like a dog? Haha, sorry, you basically left yourself open for that one  .
And what exactly sparked your sudden urge to drive? You know, it’s not a great as it seems. You have to pay endless amounts in gas money, you have the sudden responsiblity of the lives of the others in your car or the cars around you, you have to live with the knowledge that with the money you spend on the gas is, conclusively, slowing causing the earth to creep closer to its end (Global Warming must come to an end! D=), and last but not least you are suddenly put out to be judged by the strangers-or perhaps you know them-in the cars around you. Really, driving is not what it seems.
BUT, I will agree with you on one, and only one, thing that you’ve mentioned. 2 AM trips to Taco Bell are very, very, very, very good things  .
AND, a reply to your comment. LOL to that picture xD. I’ve never seen that before =)! And yes, I added that lovely image of the Mighty Power Rangers just because… I wanted to. There was no reason, except for the fact that it is my site and I can put up what I want (mwahaha).
I wonder if you’re still online. It was a surprise to see a comment on my blog so late at night. I wonder if others *cough*you*cough* suffer from the same acute insomnia that has plagued me -over dramatic sigh-…
Lol, I’m going to admit, I’m very surprised by the length of this comment. It was totally unintentional haha. I talk too much =). Sorrrrryyy.

WHEE! FUNKY SMILIES! WATCH THEM DANCE
Yeah totally, its good practise to go to the arcade and go on those mini-race things (Its not cool to crash into the wall half the time *cough cough*)
That late night fiesta sounds so good right now!
PCE.
They’re so cool =D
So envious of your blogs…

I think I breaking the whole commenting rules…
But anyway :mustache: ….
I set the picture to ‘DARKEN’. (Multiply is ickkyyy, but it still works.) And then cut out the background and anything the skin and stuff…
Very brief, huh?

Gah, you’re still closer to the legal driving age then I am, so stop your yapping. :insane: I get nervous when I think of driving for some reason. The fact that there are really fast cars zooming about on the freeway that may hit you at any second kind of makes it worse. There are so many rules as well, like you always drive on the right side of the road to ensure that you’re going in the same flow as the traffic, following the speed limits (SPEED DEMON!), and the fact that if you don’t wear a seat belt, you get fined. :birdie:
Good luck with obtaining a license though. Only… two more years for you? Three more for me…
Aug Tue 07 at 8:36 am , Anne Says:
Ah man, it makes me very sad for you that you’ll have to wait 3 years.
It suck big-time to not be able to get where you need to be just because the ‘rents are busy. Cruel world, my friend.
I’m tempted to mention that I’m getting my long-awaited license in 6 days, but I don’t think I will, ahaha.
Oh snappers, just did. Well, if you lived near me, then I’d drive you around from time to time till you got yours.
Aug Tue 07 at 8:37 am , Anne Says:
*****sucks… good God, I’m dysfunctional. :nope:
Aug Tue 07 at 7:54 pm , connie Says:
i’ve never had a capri sun in the passenger seat… i think i need to ride with whoever you drive with! anyway, don’t worry - you’ll be able to drive soon, yay! for now, you can just find someone else to chauffeur you around, and come on, what’s so bad about that? (lol, i thought that was an appropriate emoticon)
Aug Tue 07 at 9:04 pm , Robbie Says:
Like you said, who wouldn’t take a late night fiesta, but still, wait a few years before trying to drive =), cycling is pretty popular isn’t it?
Aug Tue 07 at 10:20 pm , Lily Says:
I would love to drive. And i will able to soon.. in about 7 months. It’s so annoying taking the train everywhere and the trains in Sydney are soo unreliable. :frustrated:
They even match your layout.
But then again, my parents and friends have all agreed that i will be a hazard on the road and therefore are 1. letting me drive in an old matchbox sorta car; 2. voting on who will teach me to drive (no one nominated themselves, surprisingly) and 3. not driving when i’m driving. :lmao:
The smileys are awesome!!

I love caprisuns, the flavor Pacific Cooler to be exact  . WOW @ mass murdering hitchikers. That made me L O L! Well not really, more like laugh inside my little head? But you’ll be 16 sooner than you think- that’s the age when you can get a license, right? or is it permit? I forget =[… I don’t even want to learn how to drive right now, the idea of being on the freeway next to those large 18 wheelers just scares me
.

Aahhhhh AUSTIN… I stay offline for a DAY because my nerdy nose is buried in a book and I’ve already missed TWO BLOGS?
You’re one lean, mean, blogging machine.
Ah yes, the wonders of turning the volume so high it makes you feel you’re at a live concert. Minus the screaming of pathetic obsessed fans, which I may contribute to.
A license for a thirteen year old sounds great. But for now… we survive with tramming and bussing. And the fuss parents make before you actually GO tramming and bussing, because of all the child predators. Or potential child predators.

I can’t wait to start driving, i know exactly what you mean but i know for me it won’t be for at least a year or so. But i tihnk i can wait, because the thought of me in front of the wheel scares me. My life is in my hands and if i do something wrong, BAM it’s done. LOL maybe im exaggerating but you get the point :]
Aug Wed 07 at 10:55 pm , Deborah Says:
Cool. it would be interesting for you to drive. But maybe no one will trust you to be in the same car with you until you reach a ‘drive-able’ age anyway xD. I’m going to apply for it straight away when i turn 16.
Did i ever tell you that I thought you were a class mate of mine? Because you had the same name AND similar face in the picture. But then i found out your in a totally different country, more better with words and doesn’t seem to be the type of person who sprays instead of says.
Aug Thu 07 at 12:49 am , Aurelia Says:
Gosh, you start writing like few ppl on net. A lot of smarty words, I barely can understand what’s written. Oh well, I will try to anyways.
I don’t think 13-yos should be able to drive. I mean, at this age kids don’t understand many things, just like they not smart enough for them. Most of EU countries allow ppl to take driving licence when theyre 18. I think the border should be 17. Yeah, car is needed. Appropriate to knowledge.
Yeah, we have meteors in mid August every year from the time world exisits. It’s a nice view.
Even though I’ve never seen it, because I live in shitty country. :/
By the way, the icon is cute!
Aug Thu 07 at 12:51 am , Aurelia Says:
Oh, I forgot to mention your comment…
If I manage to fly to the USA, yes. I consider taking english class at first (lol) and then pass all those damn exams you have in the USA (WTF?!). I need them to go to college. I think I will graduate from there when I turn 30, lmfao.
I’m also going there for some guy. So, I guess I have two reasons.
Aug Thu 07 at 7:31 am , Courtney Says:
Hey! Amazing site, and yeah, sometimes I wish I had a license too sometimes, except for the whole accident & crashing & running over inasant bystander things. The late night fiestas sound cool, too. :insane:

Oi!
Its all thanks to you that I have no work to do on the visitors section! [Although I DO have to add my written work... >:( ] Ahhh and thanks for the compliments! And WOW you sound JUST like my parents, only they say it in my own language… Lol
And for a young teenager, you think WAY deep. You write about like… topics! [I likee!] You think way too much are you sure you dont want to be drunk for a few hours or so and let your brain fall loose? Just kidding >:)
And omgggggg meteors! I wanted to see them but I dont know where to look. SOmebody said it was right over my neighborhood but idk…
Aug Thu 07 at 3:58 pm , Angel Says:
I really need to actually get unlazy and get my license. Problem is I’m a poor test taker. I do fine when I’m driving around with the husband or with friends, but you get me behind at wheel during a test and I freeze up and over think. Yup, it sucks. But it’s still something I finally need to get. Lol.
Aug Thu 07 at 6:50 pm , Shari Says:
Holy freak. You’re only 13? Wow. I didn’t know you’re THAT young.
Anyway, I’ve had my driver’s license since October 2006, but I haven’t exactly used it yet — no car. Pretty useless. Once you’ve touched your license, welcome to the fast-paced world where every KPH and MPH counts. Scary thought.
Except for the Taco Bell part.
Aug Thu 07 at 10:08 pm , Blythe Says:
i wont lie
I’m a sob. I was never excited to drive. I just got a license so my parents wouldn’t nag me so much. Must say. Having an mp3 player in the car really improves the environment
I am a rather odd one though. It’s perfectly normal for teenagers to be thrilled to drive among other things, and I never seemed to have found joy in those other things
But yea. I can see how it would improve wanting to go somewhere or not having to wait for someone to pick you up
I take that for granted. I’ve had my car break a few times and I feel so trapped in one spot afterwards xP

I saw Rush Hour 3 not too long ago with a friend. You’re right. It was HILARIOUS. Thanks for the recommendation! Oh, and the picture in my layout was taken by me (not from SXC.hu…but they do have awesome stock there)…that’s why I love the layout so much.
I know what you mean. My cousin Emily is sixteen and she just got her G1 on July 31st. But then you have to wait eight months to take the actual driving exam to get your G2. But at least after that you can drive for 5 years without having to get your G3. I want to be able to drive so badly. Imagine the freedom, the roadtrips! Roadtrips are something I daydream about daily. It’s kinda like a curse, I can’t keep my mind off of them.
Thinking of driving down an old country highway, or even better, Route 66 (get your kicks :P) and just listening to your favourite music (not too EXTREMELY loud, mind you). I’ve bought many CD’s, and everytime I buy one, I think about how great it’ll be when I can finally drive and I get to play these in the car! But there is the element of having the music too loud. I was in the Beaches in Toronto a few weeks ago, and there was this one gnarly looking man in a large black vehicle blasting some rap music out of a car. But not just blasting. More like earsplitting, window cracking sound. It was mostly the bass lines, but I felt about to pass out, no word of lie. That’s how bad it was.
It’s nice to dream about. Then we get to all the realizations, passing all the exams, then having to pay for gas, the car AND insurance (maybe not when you’re borrowing your parent’s car, but sometime we’ll have to). Oh, the troubles of being an adult.

Hey smarty pants I tagged you [ahah sorry :)]. Rules are on my site, youre supposed to read it there and I’m not supposed to send it to you. >:]]
Aug Fri 07 at 1:32 pm , Kris Says:
I don’t drive because I can’t. I don’t think I’ll be taking up driving lessons sooner. I use public transportation. But I enjoy being seated in a private vehicle(of my relatives) rather than public transport. Aside from it’s more comfortable, you don’t have to work about noisy and lousy co-passengers.
Quite weird, I thought you were 15, only to find out that you’re 13… 0_o
But hey, be patient. I know it takes some years before you can drive but be patient in ‘driving’ a bicycle at the moment. Hehe
